In Solidarity: BPNC Statement on the Death of George Floyd
We stand in solidarity with the Black community in Minneapolis and call for justice for George Floyd and many other lives tragically lost at the hands of police.
From Trayvon Martin to Ahmaud Arbery, violence against the Black community has become all too familiar. The death of George Floyd is yet another reminder to all why we continue to fight against white supremacy in all its forms.
We are a community-based organization whose mission is rooted in creating a safer community, protecting immigrant rights, and ending all forms of violence. From Chicago to Minneapolis, the work continues to call for the divestment in police and ICE that continue to harm our people. That is why BPNC is supporting a larger demand to #FreeThemAll, #AbolishICE, and #PoliceFreeSchools.
As allies, we cannot sit idly while the Black community is hurting.
Ways to Support:
Call Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to immediately end violence against protesters, release all arrested during protests, and hold the officers responsible for the tragic loss of George Floyd accountable.
