Marcos Ceniceros, an organizer with the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council, a community group on the Southwest Side, called the recent problems “the peak of the crisis” after years of upheaval.
“Now it’s come to a point where it’s about keeping them open,” Mr. Ceniceros said. He added it was “absolutely ridiculous that we have to have these conversations.”
